On the opposite end, some designers create flashy, trend-focused sites that prioritize showing off technical skills over user experience. These sites usually have endless scroll-jacking and overly complex animations, resulting in poor user experience and excessive loading times, and can negatively impact website performance. These are what I call "awwwards websites", and are usually very "me" focused. They're more about showing off developer/designer skills rather than what value they can give to their users, which can serve its purpose for a front-end developer's portfolio (though most of the time it can be too overwhelming), but for actual business use cases it fails to bring real value. Because at the end of the day, the goal of a business is conversion — more emails, more bookings, more sales.

What I focus on instead is making websites that feel alive without getting in the way. Every animation or interaction should either help tell your story or guide someone toward buying from you. No pointless effects – just purposeful design that feels premium.

Redesigning the Century 21 Pura Vida real estate website was one of my most rewarding projects. The original site lacked the premium aesthetic and user experience the client envisioned.

My goal was to preserve core elements while elevating the brand image, creating a more intuitive, functional, and high-end real estate listing platform.
